2021 is just around the corner. Imagine the different possibilities! When one year is coming to an end, and another year begins, you often think about what changes you want to make in your life.

As a truck driver, it can be challenging to come up with some personal goals that fit with your life on the road. Having trouble thinking of something? Here is our list of new years resolution suggestions for truck drivers:

Try Eating Healthy

This is a super popular New Year’s resolution, but it is also really important! After the holidays are over with all the delicious food and drinks, it is important to get on track and eat healthily. This is especially important for truck drivers, but is also more challenging. It is definitely doable but it will take some willpower on your part!

Some restaurants, fast food chains, and truck stops have started moving towards healthier options but it is always better to plan ahead. Check out our blog about meal prepping on the road to see how you can plan ahead and eat healthily! 

Drink More Water

It is really easy to opt for a sugary drink or coffee when you’re picking something up to drink at a truck stop or gas station. These drinks can really take a toll on your body – it is important to try and drink water and stay hydrated because this will bring up your natural energy levels. Drinking water will help you feel better while on the road!

Get Better Sleep

A good night’s sleep is a huge contributor to improving your health and not getting enough sleep can be a safety issue for drivers! Make it a priority to get anywhere from seven to nine hours of sleep every night. 

If you have trouble sleeping, consider finding a white noise app or a soothing playlist to fall asleep to!

Move More Often

A commitment to exercise or move on a daily basis doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym. You can commit to going on a 20-minute walk every day or even try for a jog! Maybe get some dumbbells or resistance bands to use in your truck. YouTube has a lot of great free workout videos that can be helpful as well! The most important thing is to make sure your moving and active every day!

Work On Improving Your Mental Health

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Consider the different things you might need to do to work on improving your mental health. Do you need to set boundaries with other people? Do you need to learn to speak or think kindly about yourself? Maybe consider meeting with a therapist? Work on finding different ways to de-stress and stay connected with your friends and family while you’re on the road.
