You had a long day, a long drive. A hundred or so miles to go and you’re done. First, it’s time for your much-awaited break. Don’t know what movie or show to watch during your downtime? We picked the best movies and series you can easily squeeze into your break, no matter how long or short it is:

Driving After a Long Haul

You’ve been driving for hours on end and are done for the day. For longer downtimes, movies are recommended. Here are some exciting movies to stream:

1. “Baby Driver” (2017)

Ready for some action, with hit music in tow? If you are looking for a storyline you can relate to, Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” is the movie to watch.

“Baby Driver” follows the story of Baby (played by Ansel Elgort), a young partially hearing-impaired man who moonlights as a getaway driver for crime boss Doc (played by Kevin Spacey). Follow Baby’s misadventures, as he is forced to take part in one last heist filled with red flags and seemingly bound to end with him being locked up.

“Baby Driver” is streaming on Netflix and YouTube.

2. “John Wick” (2014)

A film featuring Keanu Reeves is almost always gripping and riveting. Reeves plays the titular role of “John Wick,” an ex-assassin who is out for revenge, battling a hardened Russian mob who he used to work for. Follow Wick as he plays out a carefully crafted masterplan to bring down the Russian kingpin and exact retribution for people and things he lost.

“John Wick” is streaming on Netflix.

3. “Deadpool” (2016)

Are you the comedian of the gang? Looking for a movie that blends action with comedy? “Deadpool” is the film to watch. The movie follows the origin story of titular antihero character Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds), who also appears in the X-Men cinematic universe.

Deadpool’s story begins with him being subjected to an experiment gone awry, bestowing him accelerated healing powers and a rather twisted sense of humor. Follow the antihero in his quest to find the man who caused this mess.

“Deadpool” is streaming on Netflix and YouTube.

What to Watch For Shorter Breaks

You might be on a shorter break that doesn’t give you enough time to finish a full-length movie. In such instances, catching up on a series is the way to go. Here are some series you need to start watching:

1. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2013-present)

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” follows the often-disastrous and hilarious escapades of lead character Jake Peralta (played by Andy Samberg), a young and immature yet talented NYPD detective assigned in the fictional 99th Brooklyn Precinct. With each episode having an average 23 minutes’ runtime, you can even catch two or three episodes in a short break.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” streams on Hulu, Amazon Prime, and a bunch of other streaming sites.

2. “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019)

With its large fanbase, you might have heard of or even began watching “Game of Thrones” at one point or another. If you’re into high fantasy with sword fights coupled with dragon fire and medieval politics, this show can really be engrossing. With each episode running for less than an hour, this show can still fit into a tight breaktime.

“Game of Thrones” is streaming on HBO Go.

3. “Superstore” (2015-present)

“Superstore,” which features America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, and a lot of other up-and-coming actors, is a sitcom that tackles the stories of people who ensure that your trip to the grocery is always up to your standards. With each episode running for only a little above 20 minutes, it’s a quick grab-and-go series you can watch on even on the shortest of breaks.

“Superstore” is streaming on Hulu and Amazon Prime.

Watching these shows will leave you relaxed and ready to hit the road again in no time. Just a safety reminder: Don’t watch while driving! Have any more shows to recommend? Share it with FCC!
