One of the perks of being a truck driver is being able to see all the different sights while traveling throughout the United States. Truck drivers visit many different landmarks and sites that many people never get to see in their lives. These landmarks are big, small, well known, and unique. 

Here is our list of the top 10 unique landmarks for truck drivers to look for!

1. Carhenge

Coming in number one is Carhenge, which can be found in Alliance, Nebraska. Not to be mistaken with Stonehenge, Carhenge was constructed of old cars in 1987. The sculpture consists of a circle of 38 cars to replicate the proportions of Stonehenge. It was built as a memorial to the father of the artist, Jim Reinder. 

2. Dinosaur Kingdom II

Dinosaur Kingdom is located in Natural Bridge, Virginia, and is made up of statues that depict a dinosaur attack on the Union Army. There are 30 dinosaur statues and a small number of Union Soldiers, along with other characters such as former President Abraham Lincoln. If you want more to see, you can always walk over to the Natural Bridge Zoo, directly across from the Dinosaur Kingdom.

3. Wall Drug Store

Wall Drug was founded in 1931 Wall, South Dakota. Wall Drug began by offering road-weary travelers with free ice water, a tradition they continue to this day. They now offer dining, activities, gifts, souvenirs, and of course, free ice water. There are plenty of things to do and yummy restaurants to try out!

4. Area 51

The ‘secret’ testing facility of Area 51 is located in Lincoln County, Nevada, just 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas. This military base has been shrouded in mystery for many years, and gone under many different unofficial names. Curious drivers should be on the lookout for the dirt road that leads to this base if they are in the area!

5. Salvation Mountain

Salvation Mountain is located in the lower desert of Southern California, about an hour and a half from Palm Springs. Salvation Mountain was built by Lenard Knight and is truly a sight to see full of colorful objects, including flowers, trees, waterfalls, among other things. It is 50 feet high, 150 feet in length, and is completely made of clay. 

6. Cadillac Ranch

Located in Amarillo, Texas, this roadside attraction stands tall along Route 66. These 10 Cadillacs were buried nose down in the dirt in 1974. Since then, these care have been defaced and have had parts ripped off as souvenirs. These cars have been art longer than they were vehicles on the road and are now barely recognizable as vehicles. It is still a very popular sight to behold!

7. Memphis Pyramid

The Memphis Pyramid is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and is also the location of a Bass Pro Shop. This Pyramid is over 530,000 square feet and offers many experiences for everyone. It is quite the sight to see and was originally built to be a replica of the pyramid of Giza at a two-thirds scale. At the base of the pyramid is a hotel, and it is also home to a shooting range, laser arcade, and archery range. 

8. The Witch House

This home, located in Salem, Massachusetts, is the historical home of the witch trial judge John Corwin. This is the only structure that is still standing tied to the Salem witch trials of 1692. This is an amazing historical landmark if you ever have the chance to stop by!

9. World’s Largest Cherry Pie Pan

The World’s Largest Cherry Pie Pan is located in Traverse City, Michigan. It sits in front of the Sara Lee bakery outlet and is located in the self-proclaimed Cherry Capital of the world. On July 25, 1987, Chef Pierre Bakeries celebrated this by making a cherry pie weighing 28,350 pounds and stretching 17 feet and 6 inches in diameter. The pie has long since been devoured, but the pan still stands in glory.

10. World’s Largest Ball of Twine

The World’s Largest Ball of Twine is located in Cawker City, Kansas. Frank Stoeber began working on this in 1953, and in 4 years, this ball of twine weighed 5,000 pounds and stood at 8 feet high. Every year in August, a twine-a-thon is held to add additional twine to the ball.
