While traveling across the country, many truck drivers have the unique ability to see a lot of famous landmarks that other Americans don’t have the luxury of seeing very often, if at all. Some of the most famous U.S. landmarks you don’t want to miss while traveling include the following:

The Statue of Liberty

Perhaps one of the most iconic landmarks in the country, the Statue of Liberty is truly a sight to behold. Since it was placed on Liberty Island, the statue has stood as a symbol of freedom and hope and has welcomed immigrants to the United States from all over the world. That said, if your trucking route takes you near the landmark, it’s well worth the stop. While you’re there, get yourself a ticket for the ferry ride to Liberty Island and see the statue up close with a ticket for pedestal access.

Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore, another very popular landmark, is located in South Dakota against a scenic background of hills and greenery. If you’re unfamiliar with the monument, it displays the faces of four iconic presidents carved into the rocky surface of the mountainside. For a truly spectacular view, put on your hiking shoes and venture up one of the hills across from the monument.

Gateway Arch

If you’re passing through St. Louis, swing by the Gateway Arch and take in the wonders of the world’s tallest arch. It was constructed to commemorate the country’s expansion toward the West. If you have time, get a ticket for the tram ride to the top of the arch, where you can get a breathtaking view of St. Louis and the surrounding areas.

Golden Gate Bridge

Another landmark you won’t want to miss while traveling is the Golden Gate Bridge. It connects San Francisco to the rest of California. It’s a stunning architectural feat and a beautiful sight to behold, especially at sunset.

Old Faithful

One of the most famous sites in the U.S., the Old Faithful geyser in Yellowstone National Park, is most assuredly a site you won’t want to miss. It erupts many times each day, so if you plan a visit, chances are you will be able to see it erupt in person. Once you do, take some time to explore the surrounding area for a relaxing break from the road.

These are only a few of the country’s famous landmarks. Try to see them if you have the chance. Which ones have you visited?
