Young active adults in a picnic area with burgers and drinks

Healthy and fast food aren’t two concepts you would normally hear together. When you are on the road, it is often difficult to eat healthy food – especially if you need something quick! We are going to take a look at different fast-food restaurant menus across the United States and find the healthiest options for you while you are on the road!

Arby’s

At Arby’s, you’ll want to stay away from their sandwiches and opt for an entree salad instead. The roast chicken salad is your best option; you get a good amount of food for around 250 calories that your body will thank you for later. If you add two potato cakes, this will help make your meal more filling and enjoyable.

Burger King

Burger King doesn’t have many options for those who are trying to be healthy. The best option for anyone wanting something healthy is the Chicken Jr. There are three options for the Chicken Jr. – the original, the spicy, and the BLT. These options all have different calorie counts but are probably the most healthy items on the menu.

Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s

If you don’t already know, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are almost identical restaurants that are under different names! These are common restaurants you see while on the road. Their best option is the charbroiled BBQ grilled chicken sandwich. This, paired with the side salad, is the healthiest option for anyone who is looking for the healthiest option!

Chick-fil-a

Chick-fil-a has so many yummy options, but their healthiest option would be their eight-count grilled chicken nuggets. Get this with a superfood side salad, and you are set! You can even get some dipping sauce for those nuggets.

KFC

If you are craving fried chicken – the best option for you at KFC is their popcorn nuggets combo. It isn’t the most healthy option on this list, but it is the best KFC has. Get the combo with a side of coleslaw or mashed potatoes over their french fries.

McDonald’s

Surprisingly, McDonald’s has a couple of options that are on the healthier side. We would recommend either their southwest grilled chicken salad or their artisan grilled chicken sandwich. Both are yummy and a good choice for eating healthy.

Sonic

If you like Sonic, the best option on their menu is the classic grilled chicken sandwich. This along with a small order of fries is your best option for a healthy and delicious meal at Sonic. While the fries aren’t the healthiest by any means they have more nutritional value than the tater tots or onion rings.

Taco Bell

The fresco-style soft tacos with steak is the way to go at Taco Bell! Add some black beans and rice on the side and you have a delicious and nutritious meal. You may be surprised to see steak instead of chicken but Taco Bell’s steak is overall the healthier route to take!

Wendy’s

Wendy’s actually has a lot of great healthy choices! One of our favorites is the apple pecan salad that is filled with fruit, nuts, grilled chicken and is topped with a pomegranate vinaigrette! One of the best salads that Wendy’s has. If you don’t want a salad, check out one of Wendy’s grilled chicken sandwiches.

Eating healthy on the road can be difficult, so hopefully, being aware of these healthy options and various fast food restaurants around the United States will help you while you are on the road.
