Shredding a tire can be one of the worst feelings while you are on the road, it slows you down and it’s just an overall pain. If you’ve noticed your steer tires getting eaten up a lot faster than they used to, you may want to check your alignment.

Not every fleet views proper alignment as a necessary maintenance, but properly aligning your truck can save you time, money, and hassle in the future. When your tires are not properly aligned, your truck is not technically going straight down the road. Inspect your tires for uneven wear and tear that includes feathering, and excess wear on opposite shoulders of steer tires.

Vehicle misalignment often show up as uneven wear on your steer tires. Your steer tires aren’t the only tires that suffer when your truck is misaligned, your drive tires can suffer uneven wear as well. Your drive tires will show the same feathering and uneven wear.

Making sure all of your tires are perfectly pointing the same way can increase your fuel efficiency, but it will also increase your tire’s life.

Whether or not you think that trucks need regular alignment, we think that everyone can agree that maintaining your truck’s tires is vital to your success, comfort, and safety. At FCC we have an industry leading maintenance team to keep you out of the shop and on the road.
